Gelu A. Florea), and within the framework of my current postdoctoral project.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>We are doing here ground truthing of several potential archaeological features (mainly Dacian hillforts and terraced open settlements, alongside Roman military bases) that were identified from the LiDAR data available in the area of the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Dacian_Fortresses_of_the_Or%C4%83%C8%99tie_Mountains\">Or\u0103\u015ftie Mountains<\/a> (basically in the immediate surroundings of Sarmizegetusa Regia, the Dacian capital) and also geophysical survey (magnetometer) in a Roman military site which has some unexplained structures and which is located in close proximity of Sarmizegetusa Regia, controlling one of the main access routes to this site.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1384\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1384\" style=\"width: 640px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/romanarmy.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/2.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1384 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/romanarmy.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" srcset=\"http:\/\/romanarmy.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/2.jpg 640w, http:\/\/romanarmy.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/2-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1384\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Geophysical survey (photo credit Dr. Ioana Oltean)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>So, for the next two weeks this will be my workplace, but in August I will be back to the uplands of Northwest Iberia.
